Roger Gausman
Associate Pastor

Roger and his wife Karen grew up in southeast Kansas and began dating while in junior high. They praise the Lord for their more than 54 years of marriage. Roger and Karen have three grown children and five grandchildren. They moved to the Des Moines area to be near their son Carl, his wife Shannon and their children: 12-year-old Joshua and 9-year-old triplets – Paige, Matthew and William. Their daughter Kathie, their son Jon and grandson Reid (8) all live in Kansas.
Roger and Karen both attended the University of Nebraska where Karen received her elementary education degree and Roger, after pre-med studies, received his Doctorate in Dental Surgery. After serving with the United States Public Health Service, Roger returned to Nebraska to take his residency and Master’s degree in Pediatrics. They then moved to Omaha where Roger was an Associate Professor in the Health Sciences Division of Creighton University. As their family grew with the three children, they moved to Hutchinson, Kansas where Roger had a pediatric practice for 35 years.
Loving to teach Bible studies most of his adult life, Roger went to seminary – first at Regent College Seminary in Vancouver, British Columbia, and then at Bethel University Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota. After receiving his theology degree and ordination, Roger served as an Associate Pastor in Kansas.

Roger and Karen now live southwest of Carlisle and enjoy their home in the country and spending time with their grandkids and family. They both feel blessed to be a part of NewLife Church and to be able to serve in ministry here. Karen has been a knitting instructor for many years and loves to knit, garden and  read. Roger’s interests include music, reading, gardening, woodworking, and ALL phases of God’s ministry! Roger desires and loves getting to know everyone at NewLife and assisting wherever he can.
