God’s Voice… We Listen

Definition: We intentionally listen for God’s voice.

Demonstrated by:

-Encouraging daily time in the Word

-Involving everyone in small group study and prayer

-Speaking what God wants spoken to others

Key verses:

Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light for my path. (Psalm 119:105)

“My sheep listen to my voice; I know them and they follow me.” (John 10:27)

“Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening.” (1 Samuel 3:9)

Courageous Faith… We Act

Definition: We sacrificially act on God’s calling.

Demonstrated by:

-Having an open hand with God’s blessings given to us

-Stepping out against the status quo to pursue God’s calling

-Taking risks and expecting to sacrifice

Key verses:

Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. Do everything in love. (1 Corinthians 16:13-14)

Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. (James 1:22)

Authentic Family… We Accept

Definition: We unconditionally accept each person.

Demonstrated by:

-Encouraging each person discover and plug into a place of service

-Providing a safe environment to grow, question, and discuss faith

-Responding to the needs of others with compassion

Key verses:

Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble. (1 Peter 3:8)

We who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak…to build them up.

(Romans 15:1-2)

Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God.

(Romans 15:7)

Trusting Relationships… We Support

Definition: We wholeheartedly support each other’s spiritual journey.

Demonstrated by:

-Unwavering trust between leadership and the congregation

-Choosing to be authentic, patient, loving and respectful with each other

-Investing our time, talents, and treasures to help others grow

Key verses:

Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing. Now we ask you brothers and sisters to acknowledge those who work hard among you, who care for you in the Lord and who admonish you. Hold them in the highest regard in love because of their work. Live in peace with each other. (1 Thessalonians 5:11-13)

Healing Community… We Protect

Definition: We purposely protect our family of believers.

Demonstrated by:

-Rejecting all forms of legalism, affirming the gospel message that we are saved by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone.

-Embracing and encouraging the broken-hearted, rejected and despised

-Sharing our life’s stories to give hope

Key verses:

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. (Galatians 5:1-2)

He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. (Psalm 147:3)

Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. (Galatians 6:2)

Next Generation – We Invest

Definition: We enthusiastically invest in the next generation.

Demonstrated by:

-Following an intentional “cradle to college/career” plan for the next generation to hear and respond to the gospel, develop spiritually, and grasp their identity in Christ.

-Creating mentorship opportunities between those who are older and the next generation.

-Designing opportunities for the next generation to serve and lead in meaningful ways.

-Providing training and encouragement to assist parents in investing spiritually in their children.
